Lasik surgery is used to surgically correct the refractive errors of the eyes. After a lasik surgery you will not need glasses or contact lenses. The three most common refractive errors are:

• Myopia (nearsightedness) occurs due to the irregular shape of the cornea that causes light rays to focus in front of the retina instead of on the retina. It has a clear vision of near objects but not of distant objects.
• Farsightedness occurs due to the irregular shape of the eye that causes light rays to focus behind the retina rather than on the retina. It has a clear vision of distant objects but not to nearby objects.
• Astigmatism occurs due to the irregular shape of the eye that causes light rays to focus on two points of the retina instead of one. This type of refractive error is sometimes accompanied by nearsightedness and farsightedness.

Procedure

It is a fast, safe, effective and painless procedure. LASIK method is used to shape the surface of the cornea and correct refractive error. During the recovery time, an eye shield is placed for 24 hours and you will need to use antibiotic eye drops for 15 days.
