Hair-by-Hair Micro Hair Transplant in Argentina
The technique used for hair restoration is called Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE), and it is one of the most advanced hair transplant surgeries to treat baldness and alopecia in both men and women.
Before performing a hair transplant, the surgeon must carefully examine the patient’s scalp, paying special attention to the level of hair growth and loss. The doctor should also review the patient’s family history, ask about lifestyle habits, and inquire about previous hair care routines and treatments. Lastly, the patient's expectations regarding the outcome must be clearly discussed and understood.
To strengthen hair and reduce hair loss, we also offer an innovative Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) treatment.
Candidates
Hair microtransplant surgery can be performed on both men and women starting at age 21. It is recommended for patients experiencing genetic hair loss, scarring alopecia, or scalp burns.
In addition to alopecia, another requirement for being a candidate for a hair transplant is having healthy hair and good density in the donor area (usually the back and sides of the scalp).
The treatment is contraindicated in cases where the patient does not have a donor area with good follicular density or has scarring issues that may affect healing.
Transplant Techniques: FUT and FUE
Until recently, the most common technique was FUT (Follicular Unit Transplantation), also known as the Strip Technique or FUSS (Follicular Unit Strip Surgery). In this procedure, a horizontal strip of scalp about 10 cm long and 1.5 cm wide was removed from the back of the head. Follicles were then extracted from this strip and implanted in the bald areas. The donor area was sutured, and after a couple of months, the scar was covered by new hair. This technique is now largely outdated.
Today, the most widely used method is FUE (Follicular Unit Extraction). This is a minimally invasive, quick, and painless surgery performed with state-of-the-art technology that leaves no stitches or visible scars. In this procedure, follicular units are carefully prepared under a microscope, ensuring a 98% survival rate of the transplanted units.
At Sublimis, we also offer Sapphire FUE, where sapphire blades are used instead of traditional surgical steel tools. These blades allow for smaller incisions, which result in less bleeding, improved healing, and a lower risk of graft loss.
Procedure
Before surgery, the patient must undergo an electrocardiogram and blood tests. Aspirin must be discontinued 10–15 days prior, and hair vitamins and/or finasteride should be stopped the night before the procedure.
On the day of surgery, patients can eat a normal breakfast or lunch, must arrive with clean, uncut hair, and must sign an informed consent form.
The procedure begins with the surgeon marking the treatment area to design the desired hairline, followed by trimming the donor area.
FUE hair transplant surgery is simple: the surgeon makes a small incision around each follicle in the donor area (usually the back of the head) to extract them one by one (each follicle may contain 1–5 hairs). The follicles are then selected and implanted in the bald areas.
The hair-by-hair microtransplant procedure takes 4 to 7 hours depending on the case and the size of the transplant. Local anesthesia with sedation is used, and it is performed on an outpatient basis (no hospital stay required) without the need for IV sedation.
Results
After undergoing a FUE hair transplant, hair remains intact in 98% of cases, as the transplanted hair contains genetic information that prevents it from falling out. Within 30–60 days, some hairs may shed, but the follicles remain and begin to regrow starting around the third month. Final results are typically visible by the eighth month. In some cases, a second session may be necessary to achieve the desired density.
You’ll get natural results in a single session. Your head will once again have a full, natural head of hair that will last for the rest of your life. The genetic information of the transplanted follicles ensures they will continue growing no matter where they are implanted. Your appearance will improve noticeably, giving you a uniquely rejuvenated look.
