On the weekend of April 25 and 26, together with Asociación de Amigos de la Patagonia, we planted 120 Araucaria Araucana trees along the banks of the Correntoso stream, at the foot of Lanín Volcano, in an area affected by a major wildfire in 2009.
More than 15 years later, technical studies indicate that it is time to support the ecosystem’s recovery through planting. There, we worked to restore a key riparian forest that protects water resources, stabilizes the banks, and connects different habitats across the landscape. The goal is to restore a biological corridor where species such as the araucaria, ñire, and lenga can coexist, allowing native wildlife to move through the area again and enabling the ecosystem to recover its natural functioning.
As at every stage, the approach remains the same: to intervene where necessary and support the forest until it can continue recovering on its own.
